About Us Maitland & Company traces its roots almost 100 years through three generations of the Maitland family who practiced law in British Columbia. The present firm was established October 1, 1976 by Robert Reid Maitland (d. November 5, 1976), Brian Alan Mason and Ross C. McCutcheon. The firm has been active in business and litigation matters, with particular emphasis on international trade and finance. During the last 25 years the firm has developed a strong reputation for service to entrepreneurs and public companies engaged in securities and corporate finance matters. Partners Michael L. Seifert and Jeffrey B. Lightfoot lead the securities practice while partner Brian Mason has become known for his many successes in civil litigation and major personal injury law through mediation, arbitration and formal court proceedings. Managing partner Ross C. McCutcheon has a broad solicitor’s practice involving real estate, charities, estate planning and administration and general business law. Associate Counsel Ron Paton enjoys an active practice serving public and private companies on various business matters with a significant international component.
