Brian Alan Mason

Brian Mason is a life long resident of Vancouver with an undergraduate degree in science - primarily physics and mathematics. After graduation he turned to law and began pursing a general and trial oriented practice. He has a keen interest in trial and dispute resolution work involving scientific or technical matters. His dual interest in science and law has taken him into a broad range of topics. Some examples of the blending of the two fields are:

  • Accident reconstructions in personal injury
  • Engineering design in construction of buildings
  • Motor vehicle movement analysis in criminal cases; the probable causes of electrical shock from a city power pole; determining the cause of a container explosion on the Vancouver wharves
  • The effects of drugs and alcohol in both civil and criminal cases

Brian offers a constructive practical problem resolution approach to his divers clientele and has been involved in many successful mediations and settlements. Where it is in the best interests of his clients he will encourageproductive settlement negotiations and, in appropriate circumstances, more formal mediation.
This does not mean adopting a weak or unduly compromising position. In dispute resolution time and money can often be saved by following the aphorism: "If you want peace, prepare for war". When matters must be taken before one of the Judges in Court or before a panel of Justices in the Court of Appeal, Brian always strives to be fully prepared so that the most effective arguments can be efficiently advanced.
